As predicted, I couldn’t resist adding another Pemaquid Lighthouse image… I just love this place!

This is the incomparable Pemaquid Point Lighthouse. I could, and perhaps should, have spent the entire shoot here!

Amazing location, rock structure and sunrises combine to make this a fantastic subject.

I may have to upload Lighthouses IVa, IVb and IVc, so you can see more of this fantastic place!

Lighthouses III

Doubling Point Light was the third that I managed to catch in between the torrential rain showers. Often, after an unpromising day, a beautiful sunset rewards the patient.

This lighthouse really is as delightful as it looks. Living in the lighthouse keepers’ house must have made for wonderful sunset viewing… as long as you’re prepared for the bighting insects! Bring some bug-spray if you want to view this one!

Second port of call, so to speak… Portland Head Light.

This was the one break in the cloud that day, just after sunrise. Chilly, but definitely worth the pre-dawn start.

I’ve just returned from a manic trip up the Maine coast, a contrast to the tranquil scenes I was aiming to shoot.

Leaves and Lighthouses!

Just to let you know I’m planning another Fall shoot in New England, this time mainly in… ummmm… Maine.

As well as leaves, there’ll also be lighthouses. Given good weather, I might even manage to cross the border into Canada and shoot some Nova Scotia.

Please let me know if you have any picture requirements in these areas, so I can add them to my shoot lists.

California Dreaming 3 – Desert

The most magical time in the Mojave Desert and Joshua Tree National Park was of course around sunrise and sunset.

Though take care… when you’re staggering around in the dark, the vegetation really is as spiky as it looks!

The California shoot was not all about covering the end of my Route 66 project (click here for all Route 66 entries) but so much more!

San Francisco was a joy to photograph, nowhere more so than the wonderful Golden Gate Bridge.

The End of the Road

After picking-up where I left off on the Californian border last year, I continued my journey down Route 66, travelling through the Mojave desert and finally found myself at the end of the road in Santa Monica.

Santa Monica marks the end of the 2448 miles of the original Mother Road from Chicago to LA. Having driven along all the remaining road surface, there was a certain melancholy on reaching the Pacific.
